Greetings, I call myself sky blue yoshi because yes, I major as a light-blue colored yoshi.
1sts - yoshi, kirby, metaknight
2nds - toon link, lucario, dedede
3rds - diddy, captain falcon, pikachu
I don't upload too much stuff because I only upload what I consider is my best; due to my slow dial-up internet. And because of this slow communication of data, I only comment on things definitely worth giving "props" to, so if I happen to congratulate you, at least you know that you did something right. :)
I found this site because i was looking for a site that had a collection of custom brawl stages, and eventually decided to join to upload my stages and post comments. Even though this is called brawl snapshots, I am here mostly for custom stages, so that is what i look for. I do see many cool pictures along the way, but unfortunetly i just don't have the time to comment on all of them. Hopefully you like my stages, and if you need to find them later, I tag all of my stages with 'custom stage' and 'sby', but there is a possibility of me forgetting to tag one.
- Also, I don't like stages that are made to create a picture but are bad to play, i am here to find useful stages, not artistic ones.
--------------------
I create my stages with several things in mind, they are my general guidelines that I use for my stages:
~ for all-around stages, not specific ones ~
navigation - a stage that is tough to get around on is generally not a preferable stage. ~ that is why there are no tight corridors or low ceilings, and hopefully is mostly 2nd jump accessable. also, no areas that only certain players can get to, no need to give Pit any more advantages.
death boundaries / stage centering - in order for there to be a challenge, you have to be able to die, hopefully at a reasonble percentage. I try to have people die around 160%, that means the ceiling isn't wayyyy high up, usually...
even though most, if not all, of my stages are syymetrical and horizontalty centered, i don't mind creating a stage without both. a stage that isn't symmetrical and offcentered can be fun, because it encourages land control and placement.
appearance - although the structure of a stage is most important, how that structure is put together does have a factor. I try not to make stages that look like they would fall apart. I use various sizes of blocks when possible, and occasionally put gaps or ice in previously giant-solid areas below stages, because stages can usually look better with some open gaps, example: my 'simple_arena_sby'.
edges - stages of mine with a large death zone radius's usually have edges. sometimes to incorporate this, that meant making a fall-through platform solid. example: my 'venom_melee_sby' and my 'kongo_jungle_sby'
cpu's - face it, there is almost always a cpu in the match, so i try to make my stages cpu friendly. no (stupid) suicides, no getting stuck, and no 'searching' modes. ~ where they walk back and forth.
---- that's it for my personal criteria, now stop reading this junk and start checking out these stages!
