This is pretty generic, so I don't see how this got 1st rather than the Super Mario 64 shot. Other than that, this is an okay pic.

I think you misunderstand. Fire attacks are something Bowser is known for, but they are not what he's best known for. Bowser is best known for raising hell in the Mushroom Kingdom trying to kidnap Princess Peach over and over to rule the Mushroom World only to fall to Mario (and sometimes Luigi) later.

@n_and_n: The reason why I believe it's better is because of the relevance to the topic of the contest. Super Mario 64, which is one of the best Mario titles of all time, players and fans alike remember how annoying it was to aim bowser just right at those bombs, especially in the final fight, where the corners are removed, forcing you to throw from the center.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad pic, I'm just saying that this has less relevance to how King Koopa is known than the snap of the painful way you had to defeat him.
