From the "My God, why hasn't this snapshot been done yet" department, Wartortle joins the Brawl! But seriously, it's little more than a Squirtle with wings on its head (and a fluffy tail, meh). I made a Wing Cap Mario shot, so how did I miss this? Tch, now I feel dumb. And now look, I've completely used up the space that I was going to use to talk about Wartortle. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Oh well. With this shot, I've completed my first Brawl Pokedex evolution series (ignoring things that don't actually evolve).

Wartortle is a cool evolution. I don't understand the fluffiness of his tail and ears, but that makes him cool.
I don't really know either, but I always thought there was a connection between the "War" in Wartortle's name, the wings on its head, and Mercury/Ares. Mercury/Ares is the Roman/Greek god of war who wears a helmet with wings on the sides.
And, it does ultimately evolve into a freakin' turtle tank. So, you could see the Squirtle line as a turtle that gets more belligerent and war-like at each evolution. Just a theory.
Also, Wartortle to Squirtle is kinda like Koopa Paratroopa to Koopa Troopa. I guess that'd make Blastoise a Heavy Troopa.

If you choose the red costume for the trainer, then Squirtle's skin color would be closer to Wartortle's.

For some reason, I laughed when I first saw this. Not sure why. Cool shot, though!
^ Oh, that's just awesome. . .especially your Venusaur and Wartortle. Well done! All right, I'll see if I can remake these shots with those textures. . .might take a while for me to get to it though.
EDIT: Ok, I redid Venusaur, Wartortle, and Bulbasaur with your awesome textures, staging them to accurately represent the characters as best as possible. I might do Blastoise later.
As for Charmander/meleon. . .is it not possible to apply transparent textures to 'zard's wings? I don't know much about texture editing, but I assume that's how you got rid of Ivysaur's leaves to make Bulbasaur. . .
