All right, contest 6 is over. As I thought, this shot made for a very interesting contest.
Before I announce the winner, I want to discuss what I felt when making the shot. I envisioned a type of schizophrenic murderer. One personality is a serious and deadly killer (Sheik), another is "Here's Johnny" axe-crazy insane (Dimentio face). And one is desparately seeking help from the horrible, destructive forces within (Zelda).
That theme of a divided mind coping with evil forces within seems to match some of your captions (GreenHill, shadowsquid86), which means my original feelings got through.
But, many of you took a very different spin on the shot. I like the MadWorld angle proposed by The_Mediocre_Chimera. . .the B+Wness and lighting from those textures really makes Zelda and Sheik look like foes from that game. FLE's perspective that this might be a Beta version of Smash is really creative too. As is theyoshifanboy's proposition that they might be Dimentio's minions (Yin and Yang, well put. And Dimentio's mask has a light and dark side too).
As much as I appreciated those different viewpoints, I'm going to give the win to shadowsquid86. Mark Twain's quote is a very fitting and moving way to capture the feelings behind this shot. And, you've made me realize that this snapshot need not apply to a schizophrenic killer. We ALL have evil thoughts and intentions that we need to cope with and keep hidden from society.
I need to say - I found it VERY difficult to pick a winner this time. This was an excellent contest and you all did very well.
But, we need to move on. . .here's contest 7.
