Donkey Kong was walking alongside battlefield, when he noticed two barrels. He instantly remembered the time he found bongos with Diddy, and how he made such a racket, everyone said their ears bled. "I can use these" Donkey Kong said in his own language. So he picked them up and brought them home to smash them so they can become smaller.

The energy from the smash ball allows DK to pound the bongos hard enough to make a deafening sound.
